铁电材料由于其在压电,热电和电光方面的特殊性质而在许多不同的研究领域中具有广泛的应用。

用于实现非线性光学效应的光学超晶格结构大多是基于铌酸锂,钽酸锂等铁电材料设计加工完成的。

微观结构影响宏观功能,因此对铁电材料畴结构或畴壁的观测十分重要,这对材料的制备及各种光学效应的研究都具有指导意义。
