Writing, as the essential practice of the language skill, is one of the difficult devices to be manipulated for English Learners. In China, many students have problems in the process of writing such as lacking logic and coherence in content, using monotonous sentence patterns and so on. Based on the Thematic Progression Patterns given by Halliday, this paper plans to study 30 composition samples from the sophomore of Wu Han University of Technology. After the study, we will find specific features in Chinese EFL Writing, thus providing some advice for the learning of second language writing for Chine college students.
