Pride and Prejudice and Gone with the Wind are two novels written by female writers. The major themes of the books are life and struggles of women. The female consciousness in these two books acquires more concern, and the heroines’ growing paths can enlighten the girls and lead their ways. This paper will discuss the heroines’ different growing paths and the factors determining their destinies. This thesis inspects the social environment, family atmosphere, the heroines’ first love affairs, their difficulties, their marriages and their life afterward, as well as how these factors contribute to the changes and growth of the heroines. Also, the comparison between the differences of the heroines will be taken into consideration in this paper according to factors mentioned above.
