Classical novels and poems are regarded as excellent carriers of Chinese history and culture.Hong Lou Meng, as the masterpiece of Chinese classical novels, is regarded as an encyclopedia of Chinese history and culture, and the poems inthis novel also havehigh artistic value.The study of the translation of the poems in Hong Lou Mengis of great significance to the dissemination of Chinese history and culture.
This paper, based on Skopos Theory, makes a comparative study of the two translation versions of Qiu Chuang Feng Yu Xi by Yang Xianyi and David Hawkes. It focuses onthe advantages and disadvantages of the two translation versionsof Qiu Chuang Feng Yu Xiand the approaches to the translation of poetryin classical novels.It also discusses the reasons to use certaintranslation methodsin the specific translation environment.This research is of great significance for improving the acceptability of the translation of poetryin Chinese classical novelsin English language environment.
