黄酮类物质具有抗氧化、抗炎、抗肿瘤、抗病毒、解毒护肝等药理活性,并且对防治心脑血管疾病、免疫系统疾病等效果显著。

但不同植物来源的黄酮类化合物在组成和活性上存在较大差异。

研究表明,桂花中富含黄酮类物质,但目前桂花黄酮的结构尚未得到解析。
