This paper is going to make an analysis of the novel, The Mystic Masseur, written by V.S. Naipaul, from the viewpoint of post-colony. The novel is set in Trinidad, which used to be a colony of Britain and also is the author’s hometown. The identity of the main character, Ganesh, has changed for several times, from a poor boy ultimately to a successful politician, from a national liberalist to a spoke-man of the British colonist. The special background and the radical change of Ganesh, to a large extent, have relevance with colonization. Therefore, this paper intends to apply the postcolonial theory to unveil the novel.
