Translation is much more than the mere transfer between two languages, What’s reflected in translation is the conflicts and negotiation between two cultures. With Lin Yutang’s translation TheWisdomofLaotseas the study subject, this paperaims to study, from the perspective of cultural negotiation, the difficulties which result from the culture-loaded items like allusions, customs and idioms of the original work, and the translator Lin Yutang’s negotiative stand and strategies.
