Edgar Allan Poe is renowned for his gothic style of writings. He applies his unique techniques of narration to his short stories and these stories are very successful at entertaining the public. In Poe’s The Fall of The House of Usher, he uses dark, bleak, and suspenseful verbs, nouns, and descriptions to define the inside and outside of the Usher household. The Ushers and their deaths were very mystical and were quite vague which helps emotionally grab the reader. In this way, the imagery of this story becomes very vivid to the reader which helps lead to a sense of emotion while reading.
