1. 毕业设计(论文)主要内容:

In today's information age, the dissemination of news has become more efficient and extensive. In addition to broadcasting new events, news reports are often used to express positions, publicize political ideas, guide public opinion, and so on. When there is a foreign news report, if extreme words are used in the report, it may cause the deterioration of inter-state relations, leading to a diplomatic crisis. Therefore, when reporting sensitive events, news media usually use euphemism to weaken the aggression in the discourse, so as to avoid the intensification of contradictions. Since the first quarter of 2018, trade frictions between China and the United States have been escalating and the two sides have been in constant conflict. In the reporting of the news about this trade war, the media of both sides adopted corresponding euphemism to beautify the facts and safeguard their own interests.

This paper ,on the basis ofFace Theory, makesa comparative analysis of the euphemism used in the reports onthe Sino-US trade war published by both China Dailyand The New York Times. It is hoped to explore the intentions and political positions behind itso as to provide references for a better understanding of the changing attitudes of the media in both countries during the trade war.
