The novel tells a story about the affair of Lady Chatterley, who gets married with Clifford Chatterley, an aristocracy after World War II, but falls in love with her ranger Mellors. Injure in the war, paralysis from the waist down and deprivation of sexuality make Clifford an impersonal, fiendish and selfish person. Eventually, following the wave of industrial age, Clifford redeems himself through writing and running his own business. This paper aims to analyse the origin of Clifford’s trauma and his self-redemption. Firstly, the origin is divided into 4 layers: the physical trauma during the war, the disharmony in family, the surrounding attention and atmosphere, the destruction and challenge of the industrialized society. Secondly, several corresponding transform from dark side to the bright life is triggered by the above crisis. Lastly, he steps on the track of self-redemption.
